lunch? Is it a date? probably not.

Evie followed Adam into New Rome. She eventually caught up enough that she was side-by-side with him, instead of looking like a lost-puppy, which she might as well have been because of how new everything seemed. She figured if she had born in the 1800s or something she would've felt the cultural shock a bit more. She followed him into a small but crowded diner type of place, and waited for a seat to be opened up.

As soon as we reached New Rome, I took a few moments to show her around a bit before heading to my favorite diner. It was always crowded, but for a reason. The food here was the best you've ever tasted and it had all kinds of different cuisines. "We won't wait for long, I promise. So, tell me a bit about how your life was back then"I asked as we waited to be seated.

Evie smirked. "Please, my life was boring." She said, "So boring that I ran away and joined the Navy as a nurse. Lied about my age any everything. Stupid thing to do." Why was she telling him this?!

"Stupid maybe, but very heroic. Did you know you were a demigod back then?"I asked, curious as to her reply. If she knew, her actions were probably justified by her feeling she had all those healing powers to put to use. If she didn't, it was just her Roman side showing through.

"No. I had no idea... Though I guess it makes sense now." She said, thinking about how even though she lied and was caught, they still gave her an honorable discharge. "Though, if I hadn't been caught I probably wouldn't have ended up in the casino in the first place."

"Probably. I'm glad you did though. You'll make a wonderful addition to this camp."I added with a smile, this time genuine. Maybe I shouldn't try, not this time. She had a tough past and I wasn't one to judge. "How was the war?"

She narrowed her eyes at him, trying to decide if he was flirting with her. "It was war. I was stationed in Hawaii, which actually wasn't too bad until the Japanese bombed us." She said, still trying to figure out why she was telling him things she normally would not tell people the first time she met them. A waiter finally came up to them, and motioned for them to follow him to a table, which she did hoping to end the war conversation.

"That must have been terrible"I mumbled as I pulled out her chair to see, my actions now automatic. I was used to treating women good, my parents had taught me that from a young age. How do you explain your situation then?

Oh, do shut up, brain.

She smiled, and sat down. "So I told you my life's story, tell me yours if you don't mind?" She asked.

"I actually don't"I agreed, surprising even myself. I wasn't usually one to share life stories with others, but she indeed had opened up about hers, something that must have been hard. It was the least I owed her. "I had a boring life too. I am a legacy, not a real demigod actually, so I was pretty much left alone. I wasn't planning on coming here but most people wouldn't believe me when I talked about monsters and gods, so instead of being the neighborhood freak show, I came here to be one of the best campers"I shrugged, sharing but unwilling to delve into much of a detail.

"That's cool." She said, "Sorry I don't fully understand the whole legacy part yet." She added.

"Took me a while too"I laughed as I scanned over the menu, already knowing what I'd order. "My mom was the daughter of Mars so he's my grandfather. I still have godly blood in my veins and some of his characteristics, but I'm not a real demigod, I guess"

"That's still pretty cool, though." She said, looking through the menu, kind of glad the food was still pretty much the same, the prices on the other hand....

"I guess."Ι mumbled and scratched the back of my head, feeling awkward now that I had nothing to discus. "Uh.. So, have you made any friends yet?"

"Not really, I just got here last night, but I was stuck in the casino with a close friend, who ended up being a Demi-god also, so its not like I'm alone or anything." she told him, after deciding on what to get.

"That's great, this place can be intimidating when you're alone"I nodded as the waiter approached, placing my order. "Have you thought about going back? Home, you know. Seeing what's left."

"Yeah, but not now." She said, "Maybe in a few years." She added after placing her own order.

"Of course. You should do that if and when you feel comfortable. I understand it must be a shock, seeing a world you never thought you'd see. I'm sorry for my earlier behavior"I sincerely apologized with a frown.

"It's ok." She said, and smiled. "So like what did I miss while I was in the casino?" She asked, curious as to how the world looked now, it wasn't that much different, but at the same time it was. she and her friends used to joke around about riding around in spaceships instead of cars if they lived into the 2000s, but there wasn't any spaceships. Even though the cars looked a lot cooler.

"I don't know about many stuff - to me, nothing really stands out - but you certainly missed out on a lot of music. What was the last thing you remember about that? Who was the big rock start in your time?"I asked curiously, trying to figure out where she belonged in the chronological line.

She smiled, and thought for a moment. "Hmm... Frank Sinatra, Peggy Lee, and Benny Goodman." She named a few singers/musicians that she liked, but she had no idea what a rock star was...

"Oh my"I sighed with a shocked expression. "You have a lot of catching up to do. Elvis Presley, Rolling Stones, Beatles, The Doors. Sheesh, girly, you've missed all the best!"

"Who are they?" She asked, as the waiter brought their food.

"Just some very important people that made some very awesome music"I chuckled and shook my head. "I've got a lot of stuff to teach you, girly"

She smiled, "Can't wait." She said, kind of sarcastically, but she was really interested in learning whats happened since the 40s.
