Friends for life (private)

Brooklyn went up to the Virgo household and rung the doorbell. She was wearing her hair in a ponytail and had a plaid t-shirt and black leggings on. She was here to visit her best friend, Sophia. Unluckily, Sophia's older brother that Brooklyn had a crush on, Carter, was on a trip in Scotland. Also unluckily, her other older brother, Emmett, was probably home. Emmett was somewhat creepy to Brooklyn.

Sophia ran to the door, "Oh thank god you're here! Didn't I tell you to just walk in, you don't have to ring the doorbell!" She said, dragging her into the house and into her room. Her mom had important people over, and Emmett had some sort of weird need to try and listen in on their conversations. She wanted to avoid all possible interactions.

"I can't, Sophia. I could walk in and someone could be naked or getting murdered or something," she joked. Brooklyn locked Sophia's door. "This is just in case Emmett feels the need to be curious." She looked at Sophia. "So, what were you so anxious to tell me?" she asked in an excited manner.

"Carter's trying to date a Greek girl." Sophia said, sitting cross-legged on the bed. "Hasn't told mom, and he let her wear my shirt."

Brooklyn's eyes widened as she told her about this. She didn't know how to feel about this. She had liked Carter for years, flirted with him, but he just seemed to kind of push her away. She was jealous. Why a Greek girl, why not her? Then again, there was a positive side to this: for possibly the first time ever, Sophia had something to hold above Carter's head. And now, she did, too. "Your mom's gonna flip out! And why did he let her do that? Which shirt?"

"Apparently she had a pizza fall on her, but it was the purple one with the white and black line thingys on it. The one I wore, first day of school last year." Sophia said, "Though Emmett told him to break up with her, I don't know if he did. But we promised not to tell mom, and you know how bad I am with secrets, so I needed to tell someone!"

"Aw, I loved that shirt. Where is that shirt even at? Did you wash it?" Brooklyn was curious. She heard a noise and looked at the door. "I swear to Jupiter if that's Emmett." Brooklyn quickly opened the door, but it was nothing. She locked it again. "Anyway, why would you promise not to tell your mother? You guys are one of the strongest Roman families around, and if word got out Carter, the oldest, the First Cohort Centurion, was in a relationship with a Greek, you guys would be destroyed! I mean, think of it like this: no more cute boys asking you about your last name! Your last name will be cursed!" In all honesty, Brooklyn was just a bit jealous, but she didn't want to be known as a snitch and tell Mrs. Virgo herself.

"He hasn't gotten it back from her yet. She's still wearing it." Sophia said, "I might burn it when I get it back." She thought a moment, "Sorry, I forgot you liked him... But we're not telling on him, cause if it got out, then we would, like you said, be destroyed."

"Still? How long ago was this?" (ooc: psssst 2 weeks or so) "Yeah, I'd burn it, she's probably a skank." Brooklyn sighed. "It's okay. I just don't know why he'd choose a Greek girl over me, y'know?"

"Two weeks ago." Sophia said, laughing. "While its not ideal, I'd rather you date him too...." She smirked.

Brooklyn laughed, then smirked. "Why would it not be ideal?"

"Because, if you guys happened to get in a fight, or the relationship ended badly, then I would have to choose sides, and I would have to choose my brother's side cause he's family and all. Even if he's a hopeless idiot who dates Greek girls."

Brooklyn laughed. "I see. I don't think it would end badly though, per se. I'm hungry, do you have anything here? How about that cake your mom makes? Or the lasagna?"

"Yeah we got cake in the kitchen." Sophia says, unlocking the door and looking out into the hallway. "All clear, lets go." She say, moving out into the hallway, and then into the kitchen.

Brooklyn followed her into the kitchen

The Virgo mother had her hand on her forehead.

"What's wrong, Mrs. Virgo?" Brooklyn asked, getting some cake.

"Apparently Carter died in Scotland," she said in a serious voice. "No, I'm just kidding. Those men here are trying to buy this property off of us. They're offering a lot of money, but this house is ideal. It;s right by the Senate House, and Carter's favorite pizza place is just down he street, and Emmett's favorite skateboarding park is just a couple of blocks away, and-"

"What? Why? Don't they know who we are? What could they possibly need the house for? Unless they plan on knocking it down? Do they intend to buy the houses of our neighbors also?" Sophia asked, getting angry. She shoved a piece of cake in her mouth, before pulling cups off the shelf. "Brooklyn.. you want something to drink?"

"I don't know, honey," her mother said, getting a drink of iced tea.

"Yeah, I'll have some iced tea, too," Brooklyn said, checking out her phone.

"I'm considering selling it," their mother spoke up.

"Why? It's not like we need the money, right?" Sophia asked, not trying to ask a lot of questions, but she was curious. She poured a second cup of iced tea and handed it to Brooklyn.

"Not necessarily, but extra money always helps. Especially with Carter going to college in a year or two, and Emmett going...somewhere soon after that, too. And then you're not too far behind. Plus, it's not like we would move far, sweetie. We would just find a new place in New Rome. I'm going to at the very least, consider it." Mrs. Virgo sighed, getting herself a piece of cake.

Brooklyn took a sip of her tea, watching the two. "It wouldn't be that bad, Sophia. I mean, I guess I could just walk a little further to your house."

"I don't have problem with moving mom." Sophia said, smiling.

"OKay, that's great, honey. It's not a definite yes though, at least yet, I have to meet with contractors and all that jazz about it. On top of that, I want to get Carter and Emmett's opinion on moving."

Brooklyn looked at Sophia and her mother. "Sophia, can we talk?" she asked. "Privately?"

"Yeah, let's go back to my room." Sophia said, she glanced at her mom, "We can take the food with us right?" After she got a nod of affirmation, she led the way back to her room. "What's up?" She asked, once she had closed the door and locked it again.

"Look, I know your mom may be happy go lucky about this, and I was too, at first, but now I think of this: what if there's no available homes in New Rome? Or, at least, good ones.Or what if there's none at all and you have to move into an apartment in San Fran, and you have to start staying in your cohort barracks?"

"Well maybe something will open up, she probably just wants to look at everything. She won't move out of New Rome. We'll just have to wait and see..." I said, trying to act hopeful, I shoved another piece of cake into my mouth.

Brooklyn nodded. "OKay, so how about a game of 'would you rather'?"
