PostSubject: Frenemies gone wrong   Frenemies gone wrong Icon_minitimeMon May 22, 2017 3:26 pm

Edwin was at the lake as he always was. He was looking for stuff flat enough for him to stone skip. Eventually he did find one that perfectly fit his palm. The boy took some steps forward before throwing the stone at the direction of the water.
"One..two..three..four." he mumbled on his own watching the stone skip. When it finally sunk he sat on the ground. He was wearing a black T-shirt, some shorts and he was barefoot. Studying the scars on his hands he sighed deeply. Some of them were fairly deep, some still healing and others were old scars that would never probably fade.
It had been a few days after the fiasco, he preferred not to talk about it with anyone.
Maybe people would call this being heartless, not checking up on his 'friends'. Not even once had he done it. Every time Edwin found himself trying to escape the situation by saying that he has something better to do or other excuses. He didn't even really consider many people worth his attention.
The weather was pretty, but not many people were on the lake. People seemed to enjoy the beach far more than the sweet lake. Edwin never really figured it out why.

Let me tell you one thing: getting kidnapped by the satyr mob as the bride-to-be of their leader is not fun. At all. Getting rescued by your kind of friend and the annoying satyr sidekick of the group doesn't make things any better, especially when you are me and you want to handle things on your own. But we'll get to that later. For now, I need to explain some things.

I frowned as I looked down at the slightly smudged piece of paper before crumpling it in my hand and throwing it in the bin next to my bed, along with countless others little paper balls. That site I had visited right after the 'experience' said that a good way to get over something traumatic was write about it. And with a quick glance at what was successful right now in literature, I had a feeling that if I actually published it as a work of fiction, I'd become rich. Rich enough to get out of this place. I groaned as I let my gaze wander around the empty cabin that had become my constant guard these past few days. My cabin mates knew me well enough by now to leave me alone and Edwin or Gerald hadn't come by to visit. Which was good, I was in no mood for talking.

Then why did I feel so down that I had no one to yell at and just push around? No, Theodora Lewis never let herself feel so melancholic. I nodded to myself as I sat up, taking a quick shower - by the gods, that was seriously necessary - and putting my wet hair up in a ponytail before my resolve could crumple. It was time to stop moping and go on with my life - it's not as if they hurt me, after all. Not that much. I unconsciously rubbed the red marks on my wrists from the rope the crazy satyrs had used as I pondered my options. The Mess Hall will be incredibly crowded now. I know for a fact the Ares kids have practice today. The Aprhodites are doing some sort of photo shoot in the forest. The weather is pretty nice so the lake should be empty. It's too sunny for Edwin to be out so no chance to meet him there. Perfect. I allowed myself a small smile as I pulled on my red and white striped shirt and black shorts, opting to refrain from swimming for now. At least until my wounds completely healed and I had the minimum scarring possible. Feeling proud of myself for the first time after what had seemed like an eternity, I set off towards the lake with a slight jog, my legs aching with the extra effort I put on my weakened from laying around all day and not eating muscles.

Edwin yawned looking really disinterested in anything. He ran his fingers through his brown 'locks' and glanced at the sun. It wasn't about him hating the sun necessarily, but he always got burnt and had awkward freckles splashing on his face when it was summertime. Lately Edwin was feeling a bit down and lonely. The day his mother died was coming around soon. The kidnapping wasn't really pleasant either. His mother wasn't really a saint and Edwin had maybe developed something we know as Stockholm syndrome. But he thought it was just a son's undying love to his mom, even though he wouldn't admit it. It was a tradition for him to contact his mom on her day of death and her birthday.

Edwin shook his head and the depressing thoughts left his mind as quickly as they came. He thought he was hallucinating when he heard familiar footsteps. They were anything but light and feminine. The boy looked around himself but couldn't find the source of those steps.

I nodded along to the music in my ears as I raced around the lake, deciding on some running along the way instead of just lazying around at the lake. My ungraceful nature had yet to show its ugly face and I felt slightly happier as I sped through the thin line of trees that covered the line between the forest and the lake. But, of course, things couldn't just keep going smoothly - something had to happen and ruin it all. That something being me completely falling on someone and taking them with me to the ground in a classing Thea fashion, grunting as the body underneath me cushioned the rough fall. "Are you okay?"I mumbled as I rolled off the stranger, choosing to spend a second just laying around on the ground with my eyes closed in embarrassment.

Edwin rubbed his eyes, trying to shake the 'hallucination' off. Before he even knew it, someone really really smart decided to fall on him. He felt a weight on him, somewhat familiar. The air quickly escaped from his lungs and he looked around confused. He immediately recognized the scent, the type of speech, texture of hair. Everything was too familiar with him. "You should watch where you're going, for your own safety." Edwin quoted something from the past with a smirk. He didn't even need to look to know who just rolled over him. The boy did one of those sarcastic 'ha ha's' and finally opened his eyes. His guess was right, as always it was Thea who decided to aimlessly run like a little child.

I froze as the boy spoke, the voice very familiar and very upsetting. Praying one eye open to confirm my suspicion, I quickly stood up and took a small step back. "Hi Edwin. Sorry for falling onto you like that. I know, I need to pay more attention. Uh, see you around"I gave him an awkward gave as I rushed to finish apologizing before making a dash on the opposite direction, seeking to flee this scene as soon as possible. He was the last person I thought I'd see and the one I avoided the most. It was weird - we were on friendly terms before he saved me after all - but I just couldn't face him. Was it because it remind me of my time as captive? Was it because he knew how weak I could truly be? Was it because of my own stupid thoughts? I wasn't planning on finding out by chatting with him, that was the only thing I knew.

Edwin was nodding his head in a frown, signaling for her to slow down on the rambling. He felt guilty about not visiting her, was that what it was about? "Thea, what the hell are you-" his voice was quickly cut off by her. Edwin wiped some dirt from his shoulders and stole a glance. When he came up with something to say she was already running off, as always. It surprised him how she didn't say anything smart to get back at him or at least insult him once or twice.l "Where the hell do you think you're going?" the young man mumbled under his breath and stood up on his two legs. He hesitated a bit, but dashed running after her. Every piece of him was screaming 'no' but he didn't really care what his body was signaling.

I was surprised to hear footsteps closing in on me and turned only to find my almost friend running after me. Great, just what I needed right now. Freaking perfect. With a grunt, i tried to force my legs to move even faster, hoping to raise the distance between us. But, of course, that wouldn't work. A sudden cramp started from the top of my right leg down until the back of my heel, my muscles locking down causing me to lose my balance and fall flat on my face with no warning. What was even better was that, instead of landing on the dry sand like a human, in my attempt to lose Edwin I had moved closer to the lake so I currently found myself in knee deep water, causing my embarrassment to grow. "Can you just not trip every five f*cking seconds?"I grumbled to myself as I tried to sit up, wincing as my leg protested and a sharp sting of pain registered on my brain.

Edwin was clearly out of shape and was already pretty much dying. "Can you slow down god damn it?" he mumbled silently when she tried running away from him. Literally running away. It didn't take long for him to catch Thea. She fell just before his legs, on her face. "Ouch." he clicked his tongue, his way of showing empathy. It was better for her to fall in the lake, not sand. It would probably hurt more if she fell on the dry sand. Slowing down he had to bite his lip to not laugh at her. "Idiot, this is what happens when you try to run away. What are you doing anyways? Get out of the water. " Edwin sighed at the view of Thea half swimming in there. He raised one of his eyebrows seeing the pain shine through her face. "Are you friggin' kidding me?" Edwin walked closer to her.¨

I looked up at Edwin surprised, the whole situation finally dawning on me. I let out a small, barely stifled giggle that soon evolved into a full blown laughing fit. "Don't call me an idiot, idiot. I wouldn't have hurt myself if you hadn't followed me. Stupid goth."I chuckled and tried to get up, falling back down in the water as my ankle gave way underneath me. "Great."I groaned and tried to splash him in childish revenge. "It's your fault!"

"Don't call me an idiot, idiot. I wouldn't have hurt myself if you hadn't followed me. Stupid goth." Edwin imitated her way of speech and then grinned. "Stop laughing." Edwin closed his eyes and frowned when she splashed water on him.
"Everything always seems to be my fault." he rolled his eyes the seventh time. Edwin took his shoes off, ready to crawl in to the water to save her 'friend'. Without her answering he grabbed her wrists. "Iiiidiot, you can't even stand up can you. Did you really twist your ankle, iiidiot." the boy immediately let go and flicked her forehead. "

I grinned back up at him and stuck my tongue out in defiance, choosing to ignore the searing pain emitting from my right ankle. "Well, everything is always your fault, silly. And stop calling me an idiot!"I snapped at him, shoving him away as he flicked my forehead. "I don't need your help, let me go."

"Idiot Thea." Edwin mumbled under his breath, his goal was to annoy her as much as possible. For an outsider they probably looked like one of those married couples who bickered all the time. "I admit, everything is always my fault." he said, just to shut her up and please her.
"I won't let go. You obviously need my help. You can't walk or move." he said with a hint of arrogance in his voice. Edwin did loose his grip, afraid that he'd hurt her wrists.
"I think I'm going to be forced to kidnap you again and take you to the infirmary." the boy sighed and shrugged.

All it took was one small mention of the kidnapping to change my mood from playful to angry. "I said let me freaking go."I snapped and shoved him again, this time harder to get my point across. "I never needed you Edwin and I don't need you now so if you know what's best for your health you will let me go before I do some serious damage to that ugly face of yours."

Edwin let her wrists go, and backed down. He was pretty used to her shouting weird stuff that had nothing to do with anything to him. "Fine hothead, I'll let go before you do damage to this ugly face of mine. I guess you can figure out yourself how to get out. You're so smart after all." he shrugged like he didn't care and turned around on his heels.

I huffed and glared at him as he let me go, staggering to find my balance before landing on my bum again in the lake. I wouldn't give up though so I tried to get up again, using some nearby rocks to support my weight and help me get back. But as soon as I put some minimum pressure on my right leg, the pain flared up and I had to back down. "Edwin, wait!"I called out after him with a mental eye roll at myself. "Take me back to camp."

Edwin kicked a rock as hard as he could, that flung on a tree and back to his forehead. It made him look like a complete idiot. Rubbing his forehead, he heard Thea shouting for his name. "Bingo.." he mumbled and turned back. "Huh? I thought you could manage by yourself? I'm an energy conservationist, that's too troublesome." Edwin put his hands on his hips but immediately put them back. "Juuust kidding, I'm not that mean.." he walked back to her. "There's only two options on how to carry you back though. Princess style or piggy back. Your choice." Edwin shrugged for the last time.
