Catherine's Bunk

Well, it seemed as though Lethe hadn't been very busy in the last two decades because Catherine was the only oblivion-baby there....which was fine by her; that would be extremely weird. She could imagine the exchange: "Hey! You're mom's the goddess of forgetfulness, too? That's so cool!"

She was perfectly fine with being the only Lethe kid. It made her special in her own weird way.

Plus it wasn't like she was ever lonely--#23 had to be the most crowded cabin in camp. There were a ton of interesting people: some different wind gods' kids, twins, a teenage boy who did nothing other than read comic books and dodge the occasional shrapnel that flew towards his bunk--all very different and very unique. It was like a book in a sense: all these different characters from different walks of life and backgrounds that were all here together for the same reason: they apparently started to believe in an ancient polytheistic religion. Coincidence? Possibly.

So, here she sat in the cabin, on her bunk, with Link the tarantula crawling around, inspecting his new home. She needed to get him a new aquarium, but she kept forgetting--which was understandable because she was a daughter of Lethe but annoying because she could usually recall anything whenever she felt like she needed to. She remembered the name of her first imaginary friend (Mr. Elephant from Tylenol), her grades on her last math exam (that's classified), the last time she'd read Flowers for Algernon (too long ago)--you get the picture.

Well, anyways, she needed to get Link another aquarium. She wasn't quite sure how to get her old one here via magic (since normal mail didn't work) and she didn't know how to make a temporary one, so Link was just allowed to wander around the cabin like he owned the freakin' place.

Yup. First mistake.

So, not only are the Athena kids arachnaphobics, but many other demigods seemed to be freaked out by spiders as well. Link's fine, she'd said. Link wouldn't hurt a fly unless he was trying to eat it. That hadn't helped any; if anything, talking about the tarantula's eating habits had made things worse. Most of the campers stayed away from her bunk--partly due to the spider and partly due to the fact that she was prone to scream, cry, and throw her book at the nearest target at irregular intervals (he'd killed off Hunter; that was a crime and the book deserved it).

It would've been fine....except, the other night, one of the kids had woken up screaming due to a large, hairy arachnid crawling on his face.

Oops.

She would've put him on a leash, but he doesn't have much of a neck so that wouldn't work well.

So, until she got both the time and the inspiration to do anything other than sit on her butt all day, Link was living in a lidless mason jar.

Which most people seemed to have a problem with, since the spider could escape and crawl on their faces while they slept.

Eh. Catherine liked spiders. She didn't see what their problem was.

OOC: A few weeks later....

So. Those lazy camp directors had finally gotten around to building new cabins. Cool beans--

--except that Catherine was now alone. She had an entire cabin to herself.

She sighed as she looked around at all the empty bunks. Boring. Boring. Bland. Boring. She was bored now. Well, at least Link the tarantula could scamper about the cabin as much as he pleased without danger of being crushed.
