OOC: Since Mason's off in La-la Land, I guess I'll post for the titular character
BIC:
Zosime was, if nothing else, very dedicated to the Hunt, Artemis, and the other Hunters--something that she took a lot of pride in. Sure, it may seem harsh or cold or even heartless at times, but Zosime knew that the servants of Artemis were in the right. Men were, on the most part, vile, cruel, greedy, abusive, and adulterous; she knew from personal experience of this and she'd seen examples of it literally hundreds of times during the 2,000 years of her time in the Hunt. Artemis always had understood, though. She'd always been there, understanding, watching, protecting, guiding.
And then there was Hayden.
Sure, he wasn't Artemis's biological son, but that's the thing: he was a forbidden son of a Hunter and Orion, the Hunt's most hated enemy who Artemis has claimed as her own. It was sickening, hypocritical, selfish....just wrong. Having a lover was wrong. Having children was wrong. That for the other women in this world--the mortal women, those who were not willing to give up so much for the service of the Lady Artemis. Zosime had wanted to be a mother before, but she had never broken her vows because she was that loyal to Artemis. To have Artemis disgrace herself in that way--disgrace all of them in that way--was unforgivable. The only way to correct this was to do as Artemis had commanded: to kill Hayden and restore the goddess's honor.
But now, Zosime was having doubts--creeping, sneaky, seemingly insignificant little doubts. Was Artemis truly right? Was Hayden to blame for things that were out of his power? Were the Olympians just the poutses (pardon her Greek) like the mortal demigods made them out to be?
And yet Zosime would always push these thoughts away, as she had for the past several hundred years. She needed to be strong for the others. She needed to be strong for Lady Artemis.
So here she was, in L.A., hunting an unsuspecting Hayden and ready to kill whoever else stood in her way.
