Some Peace and Quiet

One hand combed through loose ginger hair in an annoyed fashion. There was too much noise going on in the cabin, which had only served to make his current headache worse. A disgruntled Micah had left without bothering to find a hair tie, something he was beginning to wish he had. Some days he was just tempted to chop off his hair and be done with it. A bit of wandering brought him to the arts and crafts area, a place he hadn't been in quite some time. He was eighteen after all, and preferred to spend most of his time at the archery range. It reminded him of his times at the shooting range with his uncle. It was relatively quiet at the arts and crafts area at least, with few people around. Okay, that would have to work. Micah sat down at a table, resting his head on one hand, feeling ready to fall back asleep right there.  

Micah briefly glanced up as the boy sat down across from him. At first he just stared back down at the table, letting his eyes slide back shut. However, he could recall the words of his friend Claudia, before he'd fed her the lie about going off to some special boarding school. She'd told him to make friends, because if they weren't going to see each other again, she at least wanted him to be happy. He'd promised her he'd try, and he hadn't really gone through with it. Decision made, he opened his eyes again and focused his eyes on the paper the other boy had grabbed. "What are you planning on drawing?" he asked quietly.
