Welcome to the 21st century

It was about 9 am on Sunday and I was waiting by the temples for the new girl to show. This week I was the one charged with showing the newbies around. I was glad though she was the only one, I hated those kinds of things. Well, at least she's a girl, I thought with a sly smirk. Yup, this is gonna be awesome.

Evie walked up to the temples. She straightened the shirt and jeans that were lent to her, and while they were much comfortable then the nurses uniform she was in while at the casino, she just didn't feel right wearing jeans. She looked around, was this where she was supposed to be?

I was brought out of my thought as a girl approached the temples, clearly unsure of herself and the place around her. "Hello, are you Evelyn?"I called out to her as I slowly approached her, making my presence known before I reached her so as not to startle her. She may seem weird, but she's definitely not bad looking.

"It's Evie." She mumbled. "Are you supposed to be the one to give me the grand tour or something she asked, looking at him and narrowed her eyes, he kind of looked funny. But everyone looked funny, so it's not like she knew for sure if he's funny looking or not.

"Yup, that's me. I'm Adam, nice to meet you Evie."I introduced myself with a gentle smile as I quickly scanned over her petite form. Not bad, miss Evie, not bad at all. "Do you have any questions before we start the tour?"

"No... Not really." She said, well actually she had a lot, but there were way to many questions, and she figured at least some of them were going to be answered soon.

"Alright then, we shall start immediately. I chose the temples because you can see over the whole camp, so I can show you everything without having to run around. Then, maybe, we could go see the places that interest you most up close. Like, coffee in New Rome or a stroll at the lake?"I offered as I pointed over to where every place I mentioned was located.

"Hmm ok..." Evie said, "So New Rome is like, a town?" She asked, trying indefinitely to ignore how weird the stroll at the lake suggestion. Well the strolling the lake wasn't weird, it was trying to figure out why he would want to go with her.

"Exactly! It's a town specifically designed for demigods. It's borders separate it from the camp and no weapons are allowed inside, so the danger is almost non-existent. It's the home of many demigods that chose to remain in the safety of the camp instead of going out to the real world, but it is also accessible by regular campers in their free time."I explained, a small smile on my lips. "I could take you there some time, it's really beautiful. Not like you, but a close second"

Evie smirked then rolled her eyes. "Yeah we'll see. What else does this place have?" She asked, 'Aside from boys trying way to hard...' She didn't say it out loud though, though normally she probably would've.

"Well, for starters, this is the Temple Hill. Right now we are located outside of the temple of Mars Ultor"I explained as I pointed to the temple in front of us. "There are also three other temples, of Jupiter, Pluto and Bellona. Campers come here to pay their respects, pray or sometimes just escape from the hard life at camp. Would you like to go inside before we continue?"

"Uhh... Sure. How come only four of the gods have temples?" She asks, as she follows him inside.

"Actually, these are the gods the camp considers the most important. Jupiter because, well, he's the king of the gods. Mars and Bellona are warriors, like us. And Pluto, well, I have no idea about this one. I don't usually hang out at the temples much. I've heard though that you can pray here to any god parent, the gods don't mind so much."I explained with a thoughtful expression on my face, for the first time in my life at camp wondering about the history behind the temples.

"Oh, well that's good then." She said, and smiled.

ooc: meh... sorry for my one-liners.

"You is your parent by the way? My guess would be Venus, you certainly look like you could be the descendant of the goddess of beauty"I added with a flirty wink, leaning against a pillar and crossing my arms as I waited for her answer.

OOC: Nah, it's okay!

She laughed, and gave him an odd look. "My dad is Apollo," she said.

"That explains it. Bright smile that would put the Sun in shame."I complimented her before chuckling. "Come on, let me show you more about camp, the Temples are the boring part of it"

This kid is relentless... Evie smiled, "Ok, sounds good." She said, ignoring the comment about her smile.

Stepping outside the Temple, I once again led her to the edge of temple hill. "Over there, the long buildings huddled together are the barracks. The large one made of marble next to them is the bath house. Perfect after a long day of training. Over there are the stables, where you can find regular horses along with pegasi. If you want,you can take over the care of one of them. Next, there is the mess hall, where we mostly eat but also have some of the best parties. After mine, of course. I'm having one this Saturday, by the way, would you like to come?"I paused my explaining in order to ask her, hoping she'd at least say yes to that.

"Cool. This place is cool, different, but cool." She said, "I'll think about it, apparently I haven't been to a real party in seventy years. So I have to decide if its a good idea or not." She brushed her hair out of her face.

"Uh, you what now?"I exclaimed, kinda dumbfounded as I processed over her words. "What exactly do you mean 'seventy years"? How exactly.... What?"

Evie laughed. "Didn't they tell you, they found me in the lotus casino, apparently I was there for seventy years... Felt like only a few hours..." She explained jokingly, because how else do you deal with being in limbo for several decades?

"Oh wow. Um, n-no, they did not."I mumbled, suddenly feeling very awkward. "Uh, yeah. Um... So, the tour. There's also the Aqueduct, there, and then there is New Rome."

"I think you mentioned New Rome already." She said, good she freaked him out. Maybe he'd stop hitting on her now. "Whats an Aqueduct?"

"Oh, well, the Aqueduct is much like a water reservoir, you could say. It provides us with magical water with healing qualities, very useful after an attack or a fight."I explained, my charming smile finding its way back on my face as I relaxed again. That Di Angelo kid was 70 years old too. He seemed alright.
