Galway Girl (p)

"You started it!" August yelled back, laughing. The cold water hit him in the face and he held his arms up to attempt shielding his face. He waited for her to slow her attack down before he splashed back, trying to make the waves of water larger each time.

"Ahh! Hey! That's cheating!" August yelled, still laughing as she grabbed his arms. Effectively stopping him from continuing to splash her. Seriously, when was the last time he laughed this hard and this much? He couldn't remember, but he assumed that he had to have been with Nancy.

August had missed Nancy a lot, which was probably the only reason he even let her pull him into the water in the first place. Actually, he had almost forgotten his fear of water due to the feeling of being ten again. Besides he hadn't wanted to disappoint his long time friend. They used to play in the water all the time when they were in Ireland, but she had left before things changed. Part of him didn't want her to know that he had changed a lot after she left.

"Love and war huh?" He asked, his accent made harder to understand due to laughter. Then next thing he knew, his head was under water, and it shouldn't have scared him, ten year old him wouldn't have been scared. Ten year old August would probably pull her underneath with him. Seventeen year old August was terrified of the water, as it covered his face. He tried to push the fear away, like he when Nancy had first dragged him into the water, but this was different. Nope, instead he started fighting to push her hands off him, so he could come back up.

August felt his friend pull him back out of the water, he coughed, choking on the water he had accidentally swallowed. Once he stopped, he looked up at the girl and forced a smile. "Yeah I'm fine. Must have forgotten to hold my breath or something. Stupid of me, I know." He lied, laughing a bit, thinking that he really didn't want this one minor issue he had with water to ruin their fun. Cause up to this exact moment he couldn't remember the last time he had this much fun, and he really didn't want to be the one to ruin it.

August wiped the water out of his eyes, and blinked a few times to get the stinging to go away. He forced himself to stand up, his legs were shaking, but it was mostly his right leg, from not wearing his brace all morning. He looked down at Nancy, and smiled. "Its really not a big deal, I'm just not that big of a fan of water anymore..." He told her. He really didn't want to ruin these few days with her.
