Reynarter 2: Briefcase's Revenge (private)

Soon, she found herself surrounded by the thugs, while Randall fled with Carter. Ugh, great. The three of them closed in on her, and one charged with only his fists. In a swift movement, Reyna grabbed his wrist and judo-flipped him 180, crashing to the ground, where she landed on his face punches, until her hand was wet with blood. The others followed, one drawing his own knife. She landed a kick in between his legs, and slapped him across the face with the butt of her knife.

The last man standing decided to risk it and charge, using his judo skills to counter hers. She quickly dashed behind him and locked her arms around him, suffocating him, to the point he passed out, yet very much alive. By then, her dress had been all but tattered, one side of the strap ripped. Reyna put a jacket over herself, and hastily ran out to the street.

But then, Carter had already disappeared. Fortunately, the Sherman was idiotic enough to not try and cover his tracks. She pressed Carter's phone number, waiting for it to ring, and a few moments later, a rash voice picked up on the other side. Randall's.

"Thank you for your cooperation, you just blew your position."

She ended the call, and used a program Rick had installed for her to trace the call, the location of which she quickly rushed to. Before the Shermans do something to her boyfriend.

Randall pulled Carter's car over, parking in a darker/poorer part of New Rome- around where the Shermans lived. Randall had purposely planned this all out- he wanted to lure Reyna, and if he was lucky, other Virgos to the area. He had a couple of friends around, hiding, ready to shoot Reyna as soon as she showed up. Then, Randy would finish off Carter, after torturing him by announcing to him the death of his girlfriend. He clapped his hands together, excited. "This is going to be so much fun!" he said to himself, knowing he'd win- as soon as Reyna showed up, she was dead.

Carter stirred a little, feeling his head. He groggily started to realize what was going on around him. He quickly reached into the car compartment, where he had back-up ambrosia and nectar. He ate some, feeling a bit better. He looked up, and saw Randy standing outside of the car, and a few gunmen, hiding. He saw Reyna in the distance.

"NOOO!" Carter quickly yelled, jumping out of the car and full on throwing elbows at Randy, causing him to be a bloody mess. He heard a shot be taken at him, but they missed and took out one of his car windows. His eyes turned a reddish tint- he was going War Rage. He grabbed his sword, and quickly started taking out the gunmen. After his power ran out, he felt dizzy, and passed out.

Little did anyone know, though, there was one more gunman in the distance, aiming up a shot on Reyna.

She kept running and running, holding her knife in her hand. She could see the car up ahead. If only she came a bit closer, Reyna could then free Carter--and take the Shermans to the Legion for punishment.

The gunman aimed the shot a bit more, and when she was close enough, he shot directly at her shoulder, then another one at her knee. He then ran, not wanting to be a part of the crime scene.

The bullet struck her shoulder, and she was knocked back, sparing her of the second bullet which narrowly missed. Reyna fell on the ground, covered in a pool of blood, crying in pain, her hands clawing painfully at the ground below.

"C-Carter." she called out, though too small for hearing.

Carter marched through the halls of hospital, going to Reyna's room. He quickly opened the door, and went in, seeing her in the hospital bed and a doctor near her.

"How is she? Oh my Jupiter, please tell me she's alive?" he said, some tears forming.

"She'll be fine. We had the bullet removed from her shoulder, and she was healed pretty nicely. She'll have some pain for the next few days, but besides that, she'll be okay. She's lucky, though, if it hit her neck or her heart, she'd be dead for sure. I'll leave you two to talk," the doctor said, exiting the room.

Carter quickly went over, feeling relieved, and kissed her. "I'm so glad you're okay. It's my fault, I didn't see the other gunmen, and I should've known the Shermans would follow us-"

Suddenly, the door opened, it was Rick.

"It's not your fault." she uttered weakly. Reyna was on bed after the surgery, wearing nothing but a patient shirt over her. The wound was heavily bandaged, and she was transferring blood.

Meanwhile, Rick, having spent the day working on hi ionic defibrilizer, had just received the news of Reyna being shot. He dropped his work immediately, and left for the hospital, running frantically on the streets and shoving everyone aside.

"Nurse." he approached the reception. "Do you know the room of Reyna Wilmer?"

"Floor 3, Room 12, sir. Visit?"

By then, Rick had already ran and up the elevator, and stormed through the door. He hastily pushed Carter aside, sitting down next to Reyna, taking her hand in his. It was undeniably cold.

"R-Rick, you c--came."

"Who was it?" he immediately jumped to the question. "Who shot you, Reyna?"

"Apparently friends of the Sherman's. They arrested the gunmen I took down, as well as Randall, finally. They're in the Legion's hand. I wouldn't be surprised to see Randall and friends completely get kicked out of camp. The other four Shermans are still out there, though." Carter was just talking to no one in particular, but expected Rick to listen. "I'm luckily okay, I had a concussion scare, but this isn't about me, this is about Reyna and what happened. Leave it to the Legion, the Centurions, and the authority in general, though, Rick. You're not going to solve anything but taking matters into your own hands, it'll make you just as criminal as they are."

Carter went to the opposite side, taking her other hand. "I'm just glad you're okay. I thought I lost you."

She smiled at Carter. "I'm tough. You won't ever lose me."

"Oh, those @ssholes are not getting away with this." he mumbled.

"Rick--don't."

He shook his head. "I'm already a criminal, Reyna. I will make them pay." The demigod leaned over and wrapped his twin sister in a hug, kissing on her forehead, though he displayed no emotion. He stood up, but found Reyna's hand holding his back.

"R-Rick, please, don't. I--if you love me, d--don't."

"I love you, Reyna, but I will not let this go through."

He retreated his hand from Reyna's, and headed for the door.

Carter stopped Rick at the door. "Rick, don't. You're above this, man, you're not a criminal. I'm warning you, there's revenge and there's going too far. Stay back, we'll get revenge, together. Trust me. Going out and hurting or just plain killing isn't going to do anything. That makes you just as bad as they are, and there will be consequences if you decide to do that, that no one will stop. That's manslaughter or assault. I warned you, Rick, don't spend the rest of your life behind bars for the price of revenge, not even Victoria herself would do that." He went back to Reyna's side, holding her hand.

"Any idea when you can leave the hospital?" Carter asked, softly.

He looked at Carter, dead in the eye. He wondered why he hadn't gut this idiot yet. Oh wait, Reyna insisted. Otherwise, he'd be in the morgue right now.

With his speech done, Rick gave Carter a "Meh", and quickly rushed out of the door, slamming it behind him.

"I think, perhaps in a few days." she said. "They have to fix several ruptured veins on my shoulder." She pointed to the wound, which was right over her deformed arm, now fully exposed.

Carter carefully touched her exposed arm, and then rubbed her shoulder. "I'm so sorry, this is my fault, I should've never...I should've never assumed the Shermans wouldn't follow us. I should've realized there was another gunman...I'm sorry." Carter kissed her hand. "Do you want me to leave? I understand if you want to be alone, I just wanted to see you and make sure you were okay."

She held him back. "Please--don't leave. I need you here." Reyna smiled at him. Now that Rick was off on his adventure, she only had him as company.

"OKay," he said and smiled. "Are you expecting any other visitors?" he asked, continuing to hold her hand. "Because I really want to kiss you, but if someone walks in the middle of it, that'd be really awkward," he explained and laughed. "I promise I'll visit you everyday you're in this hospital."

She laughed a weak laugh, before leaning over and pulled him in for a kiss. Her heart rate elevated, as seen through the monitor, until several panicking nurses barged in to find the couple making out.

"Ehem--" said a nurse. "It's time for her washing up, so Mr. Virgo, you must leave."

Carter was surprised by the nurses. He nodded, and looked at his girlfriend. "I will see you later," he said with a big smile. "I, uh," he voice got quieter, "love you." His face got a little red and he left in embarrassment.
