FOOD FIGHT! (Open)

It was unknown to Valerie what caused the first piece of food to fly, but suddenly without warning the air became filled with a volley of delicious meals. Meatballs, clumps of mashed potatoes, bunches of pastas, breadrolls, chunks of fruit. The small demigod avoided the initial salvo as the mess hall exploded into a ferocious fire fight of flying foods, she ducked down behind the relative cover provided by her chair. One of her friends, fell down next to her spitting out a mouthful of barbecue sauce as it dribbled down his cheek like blood.
She peeked up from behind her cover, watching a legionnaire from the first cohort be pelted by soft fruits, he slid under a table in a bid to evade the demigods targeting him. A glance to her right saw another demigod looking confused, covered in a mixture of flour, breadcrumbs and with what looked like pizza sauce down the front of her shirt. The air was filled with the crash of plates and platters, the cries and wails of excitement and disgust. Valerie shook her head watching a legionnaire be struck right in the forehead by a ball of icecream.

"Val join in!" Her friend yelled to her above the clamour of the fight as he flung the contents of his plate at one of the other tables. Initially, Valerie hesitated, she knew that she shouldn't but... Well somethings were just worth getting in trouble over. Without a second thought the child of Apollo joined the clash, flinging food with surprising accuracy. She took hits in return, she did not have it all her own way. A girl, who looked like a daughter of Venus made an attempt to escape without being hit, one of the nearby demigods sprayed her with a bottle of ketchup. The girl responded by pouring a jug of coolade over the head of her attacker.
It was chaos, something well un-Roman. Only once before had Valerie been involved in a food fight at camp and that actually occurred a long time ago. Before she found herself trapped in the lair of the Lotus Eaters. To her it had only happened a few years ago but in reality, it took place several decades ago. Such a thing could boggle the mind sometimes.

Yoki's day was pretty normal. She trained some of the people of her cohort, and made sure that they were not up to anything. Her job was way harder than she had expected. Cohort 4 was the only cohort with only one centurion. The job put so much pressure on her that by the end of the day, she would be grouchy against her will. Finally, dinner time, she thought. As she walked towards the mess hall, she heard yelling and splattering. It was probably her imagination. As she walked into the mess hall, she got hit by ... was it ketchup? The mess hall was literally a mess. She didn't want to be mean, but this was unacceptable. "Stop", she screamed.

Valerie did not intend to his the centurion in the face with a banana cream pie, as she had been aiming at one of her friends on the other side of the mess hall. But when Yoki screamed for the legionnaires to stop, Valerie jumped, messing her aim up. She could only watch with horror as the pie tumbled through the air to exploded against the Roman officer. Valerie's face was a mask of horror. "Oh no." She said in her Scottish accent, Valerie resisted the urge to duck behind her chair out of sight and out of mind. In the end, her resistance crumbled and the young demigod dove out of sight. Of all the Romans to hit she hits an officer... At least it did not connect with the centurion of the first legion.

Valerie made the error of peeking up out of her cover and as a result was hit by the return fire of the Centurion. She wiped the food from her face. Unfortunately now with this act, the food fight grew in earnest once more, with more food flying. In one place however the fight grew into a physical conflict when two sons of Mars exchange blows. A few errant strikes that hit other demigods caused the food fight to devolve into an actual fight. Valerie watched in a mixture of horror and shame as a Legionnaire was thrown down a table, chairs were being broken in the clashes, plates and cups shattering on the ground. She remained rooted to the spot, watching her comrades turn on each other. Some of the demigods made for the exits, where as others flung themselves into the fray with gusto.
If nothing good could come from a food fight, then Valerie did not wish to know what might come from an actual fight.

Yoki might have been having fun, but she was actually not. She was very regretful that she joined the fight. If Reyna walks in right now and sees the centurion of the fourth cohort in a food fight instead of stopping it, it would be both very embarrassing. Her rank even might be demoted. And she would be here any minute for dinner. Surely they would not be able to stop and clean up before Reyna gets to the mess hall for dinner. Plus, someone had gotten their hands on barbecue sauce. She took some barbecue sauce, and put it on the banana cream pie. Valerie's mouth was open because she was yelling as she was throwing pie. Yoki aimed her banana cream pie with barbecue sauce on top at Valerie's mouth and threw it. Then she started cleaning herself up.

Valerie took the pie in the shoulder, the impact knocking the smaller demigod off of her feet. It took her a few moments to recover and get up off of the floor of the mess hall. The majority of the demigods continued to cause chaos with many still food fighting, where as others resulted to actual fighting. A few, perhaps the wiser decided to beat feet as it were and make a break out of the mess hall. Valerie decided to stop throwing food and aimed to get out of the hall, though she would not go far. She played her own part in this and would remain nearby in order to assist tidying up when it finished as well as accept her punishment for it.
