Quest: Mars' Long Lost Greatsword

Sophia smirked at the girl. Why? Because Sophia is the kind of person who likes to subtly piss people off. All in order to figure how much she can push a person, until they snap. Kind of a evil thing to do, but actually quite stragestically genius of her also.

Carter packed up his stuff and left with them.

Carter arrived at the sight, ready to take this on again. He took the CJ-sponsored truck and came here with Ainsley, wanting to finally get this sword and take it back with them in hopes of helping her reputation. He wanted the hate on his girlfriend by his family and friends to stop. Carter knew this was the time to knock the Virgo legacy up a few notches by finding the sword and taking it back to camp once and for all.

He could sense it. Closer. He took a few steps out of the truck. Closer. He took a few more steps. Closer.

Carter saw the sword, sticking out of the ground. They were in the middle of an abandoned little town. He touched it.

Suddenly, a giant red dragon flew out from under the ground, and Carter knew they were screwed.

He screamed in fear, and took a few steps back. He quickly drew his sword.

Ainsley was anxiously tapping her chin, trying to tame her undying stress. When they were there, in a creepy middle-of-nowhere place, she hopped out of the truck almost tripping. Ainsley approached the sword, still lingering behind Carter. She was exited to finally show everyone that she was worthy of their acceptation. The redhead let out a small victorious squeal.

Ainsley quickly lost her balance and looked up to see what they were opposing. She squinted her eyes and her brains registered that it was a dragon. A big bad deadly red dragon that didn't have any good intentions, and the two of them were probably it's future lunch.

"What happened?" was her first reaction to what was happening. Then she froze completely, waiting for the adrenaline to kick in. Ainsley stared wide eyed at the dragon, admiring it from far away. The girl wanted to move, quickly generate some weapons but she was unable to take her eyes from the dragon.

Carter threw his sword straight at the dragon, but it barely did anything, except make it flinch a little. Carter realized the dragon instantly healed, and his eyes diverted to the sword. The sword was the key- the sword was the only thing that could kill the dragon. The dragon spewed fire at him and trashed to take a bite at him, and he barely got out of the way. Carter ran up to Ainsley. "Go grab the sword and slice at it's neck, I'll distract it," Carter said, and pushed them out of the way of fire. He grabbed another sword he had and charged it with a war rage, taking slices at the dragon's feet. The dragon viciously tried to kill him, knocking concrete around and burning everything in sight.

Ainsley stood on her two clumsy legs, trying to come up with some strategy. Her mind was blurred with 'fight or flight' and she wasn't able to think about anything smart to get them out of there. "I-I can't do this." she whispered clinging to her tiny dagger. How the hell did they get to this situation? She shook her head violently before dropping the dagger and quickly running towards the sword. Ainsley kept constantly almost tripping from the ground shaking. She wasn't that bothered by the heat or flames, but the dragon was huge. The girl wrapped her fingers around the swords handle and tried pulling it from the ground. "It's stuck!" she shouted.
"Quick, think about some tool." Ainsley rambled while still trying to pull the sword out.

Carter, barely avoiding death, couldn't hear Ainsley clearly, and was focused on the dragon. After a few more seconds of trying to hold the dragon off, he saw her struggling. Carter quickly stabbed one of the dragon's feet with a sword, and looking around, he realized the dragon was attached to chains, and that may have been their saving grace- that's why it wasn't flying. Carter ran over to Ainsley, or at least attempted to, before the dragon flung him away with one of it's claws, causing Crter to get a minor gash and some bruises. He panted, and groggily looked up, feeling like he was concussed. He saw Ainsley standing by the sword. "Kill it!" he screamed.

Ainsley glanced at the direction of Carter. She tried pulling out the sword again, with little to no success. The dragon was getting more irritated second by second. Ainsley had to choose between Carter dying or her distracting the dragon.
"Hey! You there! Yes you, look at me!" Ainsley waved her hands, trying to get the dragon's attention. She saw it slowly turn around to face her. "Yeah you! Come and help me get this sword from here so I can slay you!" she shouted from the top of her lungs. Did the creature understand her? No, but that was not the point. Once it will stomp it's way here shaking the ground, maybe the sword will be easier to pull.
She took a few steps back, ready for the dragon to probably spit fire on her. Ainsley was horrified that she would have to actually run away from a dragon.

The dragon looked at Ainsley and snarled, spitting out fire around her, to prevent her from running away, and then took a nose-dip at her, trying to crush her and possibly eat her. The dragon growled at the top of it's lungs, and as it shook the ground, the sword became loose.

Carter rubbed his head, trying to figure out what was going on. By instinct, he grabbed some nectar from his pocket and quickly consumed it, trying to get himself back in the battle.

Suddenly, the dragon screeched. The chains started breaking on it. It flew up in the air, large pieces of metal coming from the ground. Carter knew if he didn't kill it now, that it would escape. He figured the sword and the dragon's chains were related, so when the sword was loose, the chains got looser. He hoped Ainsley understood this too. With fear not on his mind, he rushed over and grabbed the sword.

The dragon slammed down, causing the concrete to completely crumble. Carter lost hold of the sword, and it went over to Ainsley.

The dragon leaped at Ainsley, free now.

Sophia heard the fighting sounds before she actually reached the cave entrance. The Senate had tasked her once again, to follow her brother and his...well...friend... to get the Mars greatsword. This time instead of stopping, she was supposed to help them. She didn't know the details why, and she didn't question them either, she was trained not to ask. She made her way down the steep, rocky slope, she could actually feel the swords power vibrating through her body. It actually felt exhilaratingly awesome.
She turned the sharp corner around a rock and caught her first glance at the commotion she had been listening to for the past few minutes. She was actually shocked to find a dragon attacking the other too. She pulled her own sword out and ran the rest of the way.

Ainsley looked around her. It was fire everywhere. This was maybe the only time she was happy to be a Hephaestus kid, not affected by the flames. Ainsley was standing still, observing her surroundings. There was Carter, running towards her. What happened next happened too fast. She had fallen on the ground again, concrete crumbling around her. She looked up. From the other direction she could hear the dragon approached her and the sword was next to her. Ainsley quickly tried reaching for the sword with her dominant hand. Ainsley could barely touch it with her index finger. It was too far. "God damn it!" she hissed and crawled closer to grasp the sword.

Carter saw Sophia and then looked back to Ainsley.

The dragon's leap at Ainsley almost killed her. The dragon's claw got stuck in the ground, and it roared in pain. It started spitting fire everywhere, then became loose again.

Carter ran over and jumped on the dragon's leg. The dragon flew up and hit the the ground hard, effectively shaking Carter off and launching the sword over to Sophia.

The dragon looked in Ainsley and Sophia's direction. It lunged at Sophia, but missed and hit Ainsley with it's tail.

Carter got up, barely alive, gasping. He ran over and yelled at the dragon. He drove a sword into it's leg, but then fell back. His leg got caught in one of the chains, and he quickly figured out he was trapped.

Suddenly, the dragon barred it's teeth and lunged at Carter, with intention to kill.

Sophia's eyes locked on the sword as she watched Ainsley struggle to pick it up. She ducked under dragons claws as it lunged at her. And as fate would have it, the sword was knocked directly to her, she grabbed it by the hilt, and picked it up before turning back to the dragon. Her eyes widened in fear as she saw it stalking towards Carter, who's leg seemed to be caught in a chain. Sophia took off running, hoping to reach the dragon first, before it did anything.

Ainsley had little time to react. First time for everything, it was also maybe the first time Ainsley was happy to see Sophia. Her smile faded quickly when she was hit by the tail of the dragon, and she flew a few feet farther from the dragon. She felt all the air escape from her lungs and struggled to breathe. Ainsley lied on the cold concrete that was shattered like glass. She couldn't hear anything besides a beeping sound in her left ear. The girl tried to focus on something next to her, but all what she could see was dim light.
I wonder if I can move..
She tried moving one of her fingers. It worked and it hurt like hell.

Carter narrowly avoided death, getting his foot loose last second. He saw Sophia charging and instantly had an idea. It might be the only way to kill the dragon. He quickly took some more nectar before planning it out in his head. Carter ran over to another chain and pretended to get stuck.

The dragon growled and lunged at him, spitting fire.

Carter quickly moved, and causing the dragon's foot to become stuck in the chain. It roared and spat fire all around.

Carter grabbed another chain and went up onto th dragon, trying to avoid falling, and wrapped it around his neck as tight as he could. He pulled back, prompting the dragon to go wild in rage and worry. "Sophia, now!" he yelled, desperately hoping she was catching on.

Sophia charged forward, and jumped in front of the dragon. She moved the sword up, using it as a shield as the dragon snarled and snapped its jaws at her. She slashed the sword across the dragons face, as it attempted to take a bite at her head. It screamed in pain as it backed away from her, spraying fire all over the place. She ducked under the flames, almost fearful as she felt the heat of the flames above her. At least they knew for sure that the sword was the key to defeating the dragon. 

However for some reason, the dragon really wanted to get past her, and attack Carter. And while the blows she had given the dragon with the sword were leaving deep cuts and causing the dragon pain, none of the slashes she had given yet could be considered life threatening. Most of everything she had delt out was out of self-defense because the dragon was too fast for her to really keep up.

Sophia used the sword to strike down on the dragons tail, as he swung it at her. She managed to cut into it, but the shear force of the tail was enough to throw her backwards to the opposite side of the cave. She managed to stop most of the fall, but still ended up rolling right into a wall on the opposite side of the cave. Sophia groaned, as she forced her stunned brain to let her sit up and reassess what was going on around her and whether or not she was injured or not.

Ainsley forced herself to sit up, even though it felt like every bone of her skeleton was broken and smashed in to tiny pieces. If she could have, she would have screamed from pain. Her friends didn't look that well either. Sophia was lying around somewhere and Carter somehow managed to constantly avoid death. Ainsley looked like death herself, all covered in grey dust and weird chunks of concrete were stuck in her hair. It took her a while to realize, that she was pretty much dead by now, and a burden to the siblings. All that she would have to do, is distract the dragon in some means and that's it.
