Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (private)

Charlie went over to his cousin's house, one day after school. Charlie was wearing an expensive t-shirt and jeans, and had nice tennis shoes on. He hated it all. It was all superficial, but it was all from his dad. Charlie had to do what made his dad happy. Charlie sighed, and knocked on the (other) Virgo's front door. He had his backpack still with him, and was going to ask for Sophia to help him with homework, and talk about something that happened at school.

Sophia heard the knock from the kitchen, where she was eating the last slice of chocolate cake. She had her hair pulled up into a ponytail, and she was still wearing the sweatpants and tank top she wore to bed. After a few seconds of hoping someone else would get the door she quickly shoved the last two bites in her mouth, and placed her plate and fork in the sink before running to the door. "Hey what's up?" She said, opening the door.

"Hey, can you help me with my algebra homework?" Charlie was intelligent, but Sophia was amazing at math, as far as he knew, at least. He nervously smiled. "Are you the only one home? I need to talk to you about something at school."

"Yeah. Sure." Sophia opened the door wider to let her cousin in. Oh he had no idea how terrible she was at math. She would try helping anyway... maybe he could just cheat off her old algebra pages from when she took the class... "And I think I'm home alone. Mom's at a meeting, I have no idea where Emmett's at... I clearly just woke up." She said, leading the way to the kitchen. "We can move to my room, or the basement if someone comes home."

"At least buy me a drink first," he said and laughed, joking with his favorite cousin. "Your mother is quite the trustworthy one, huh? She seems to never be home. I guess that's why we have Grandma and Carter. Both nag at you in an old-lady fashion. And both are crabby and irritable." He laughed. "Please don't tell them I said that," he said, his tone quickly turning to a scared one. Charlie got his algebra book out and put it on the kitchen table.

"Carter is an old lady. I won't tell him you said it, but I might still call it to his face." She laughed. "Alright, what do ya need help with?" She sat down next to him.

Charlie laughed. "Questions 14 through 19," he said, helping himself to a soda.

Sophia looked at the textbook. "Uhh ok... So..." She mumbled to herself. Math wasn't her thing, it really wasn't. "I think you can just divide this one... for number 14."

"Uh, Sophia, algebra is kind of dividing both sides. I mean, what's the fraction equalivant for when you divide 37686.9 by 52.8? Or is there one?"

"Yeah, that's why I said you have to divide first... 37686.9 divided by 52.8 is what? And then you have to figure out if the answer is a fraction or not..." Sophia said, she hated math...

Charlie raised an eyebrow. "Were you lying about being good at math?" he asked.

"I have never, ever in my entire life told you I was good at math. You made that assumption on your own. I'm good at many things, just not math." She said, smirking, though not in a mean way. "I think I might have my old math books though, who's your math teacher? Maybe I had the same one."

"Oh, shoot, sorry. I thought you told me that. Maybe Aunt Adriana told me that while she was drunk," he joked. "My math teacher is Mrs. Quench. She has red hair, she's short, mean, hates life. Tells us about her romantic problems. Sounds like a teacher out of a sitcom, huh?"

"Yeah... I remember.... I had her also... I can check my room for my old homework. It was only last year." She said, standing up before she ran upstairs to check her desk.

Charlie nodded and sat down, opening his soda and taking a sip. He looked at the time. He took out his phone and texted his dad, telling him where he was.

Sophia rummaged through her bottom drawer, trying to find the old homework pages. She never really knew why she kept all the stuff, probably for days like today. She finally found it, and headed back downstairs. "Ok so, here ya go. I think Carter actually did this one for me, so it should be correct." She said, "Not that I condone cheating or anything." She added, handing him the papers.

Charlie smiled. "Thanks. How much of your school experience has just been cheating off of Carter?" he asked, studying the work.

"Only math and science." Sophia says, "I'm actually really good at everything else. So what did you want to talk about?"

"Uh, well, today this kid kind of...well, you see...um." Charlie took his shirt off, revealing a huge bruise on his shoulder.

Sophia's eyes widened, "Jeez what did he hit you with? Who was it?! Why? Does he know who you are?!" She asked, more like demanded. She touched the bruise lightly, healing it. I'll kill the person!"

"It was...you don't know him. It's this new kid in our school, he's a bit older than me." Charlie said, holding back tears when she touched it. "He hit me with his fist, that's all. I kind of was talking to his girlfriend, and he thought...nevermind, I don't want to talk about it."

She finished healing it. "Well tell me anyway! Point him out to me, I'll be back at school on Wednesday! How much older? Cause that bruise was huge." She grabbed a carton of orange juice out of the refrigerator, it may be past lunchtime for everyone else but to her it was still breakfast, she was thinking about making eggs. "Seriously, I'll kill the kid." She said, pouring the juice into a cup.

"You don't...it was Randall Sherman." The Shermans were another semi-famous Roman family who opposed the Virgos. "I was talking to his girlfriend, and he saw me, and figured out I was a Virgo...it was the second oldest, the one the size of a bus. Don't mess with him, though, Sophia, and don't tell anyone else. Carter, Spencer, Emmett, heck, even Shiloh will try to fight him, and that won't end well. Last time Spencer pummeled a Sherman, he got suspended. And then there was the time the youngest tried to kill Emmett...."

"Ahh so I do know of this jerk..." Sophia bit her lip, remembering the time the Sherman kid tried to kill Emmett, that had actually been a pretty bad fight. "Fine, but if I ever see it happen myself, I'm not making any promises about what his face will look like when I'm done with him." She said, compromising. "Deal?"

"Sure, just don't tell. We can heal me up and no one will ever know." Charlie bit his lip. "I don't want another fight. This is going to end bad if we keep fighting. I want peace, not war, unlike the rest of you, and I don't want to see a brawl or something between us. Besides, it wouldn't be an easy fight for you guys...I wouldn't participate, obviously."
